The Ritchie Helmsman Flush Mount 12V Compass is a precision marine navigation instrument designed to provide reliable and accurate heading information for a wide range of vessels. Built with durability and performance in mind, this compass is ideal for sailors, powerboaters, and navigators who demand precision, visibility, and ease of installation in a compact, flush-mounted design. Available with a 3 3/4″ (95 mm) Open Face Dial or CombiDial, it easily fits into a standard 4″ (102 mm) mounting hole, making it suitable for both new installations and retrofit applications.

Designed for dependable operation in challenging marine environments, the Helmsman Compass features high-temperature composite construction that extends its operating range, ensuring consistent performance in hot, humid, or variable conditions. The compass incorporates scientifically matched sapphire jewel and hardened steel pivot dial movement, paired with powerful DirectiveForce magnets, to provide fast heading lock-on and smooth, precise readings. Built-in compensators allow the compass to be easily adjusted for deviation, ensuring optimal accuracy for navigation under all conditions.

Visibility is a key feature of the Helmsman Compass. It includes the exclusive built-in Green NiteVu night illumination, which allows the dial to be read clearly in low-light or night-time conditions. Additional design elements, such as a movable sun shield and 45-degree lubber lines, further improve readability and usability in bright daylight and complex navigation scenarios. For added convenience, the compass is fully repairable, helping to ensure long-term reliability and serviceability.

Installation is straightforward, with the supplied replacement mounting gasket. When using an adapter ring, the HL-0105 gasket should be used. Adapter rings are available separately in 6″ (153 mm) sizes to retrofit existing mounting holes. For Model HF-72 & HF-73, order H-ABLK; for HF-72W & HF-73W, order H-AWHT. A protective cover, model H-741-C, is available to safeguard the compass when not in use.
