Designed with sustainability at its core, the Ocea is crafted from recycled materials and bio-plastics, and is manufactured entirely in a solar-powered facility.
Every component and process was re-evaluated to create the most eco-conscious regulator in the world, with a design that actively removes five times its own weight in plastic from the environment. Built on the proven XL4+ platform, the Apeks XL4 Ocea Regulator delivers exceptional reliability and breathing performance while allowing divers to make a positive impact on the planet.
The first stage is compact and precision-machined, inspired by the expedition-tested Apeks DS4. It features a unique over-balanced diaphragm design that increases the medium-pressure gas in the hose faster than ambient pressure as depth increases, ensuring effortless breathing even at depth. Two high-pressure ports and four medium-pressure ports allow for flexible hose routing, making it suitable for a wide range of dive setups.
The second stage is lightweight and ergonomically designed to maximise comfort and reduce jaw fatigue during long dives. A high-performance, pneumatically balanced lever-operated poppet valve ensures smooth airflow, while a large, over-moulded, self-flushing purge button allows for controlled clearing of water.
The ergonomic venturi lever is easy to locate and operate, giving divers precise control over airflow. A flexible nylon braided hose provides superior cold-water performance compared to traditional rubber hoses, and a standard metallic hose connection allows for interchangeability and easy maintenance.
The Comfo-bite mouthpiece features a unique bridge across the upper palate, holding securely without bite pressure, and can be easily replaced in the field using the reusable mouthpiece clip. The durable and flexible rubber exhaust tee effectively diverts bubbles away from the diverβs face, enhancing visibility and comfort underwater.
