The Apeks MTX-R Sidemount Set Complete is a purpose-built, expedition-ready regulator configuration designed to withstand the rigours of cold water, contaminated environments, and extreme sidemount diving. Engineered for reliability, durability, and field serviceability, this system is tailored for divers who operate in demanding conditions where equipment performance must remain consistent and predictable. The MTX-R platform is widely recognised for its rugged construction and ability to perform in environments that place exceptional stress on life-support equipment.

At the core of this sidemount set are two over-balanced, environmentally sealed diaphragm first stages. This over-balanced design delivers superior breathing performance as depth increases by allowing medium-pressure gas to rise faster than ambient pressure. The compact, environmentally sealed diaphragm system completely eliminates the maintenance challenges associated with silicone, oil, or grease filling, making it particularly well suited for frequent use in cold or contaminated water. An over-moulded environmental end cap and diaphragm help prevent ice build-up that can cause first-stage free flow in extreme circumstances, while also protecting the regulator from impact damage during transport and use.

The forged first-stage bodies incorporate heat-exchanging ribs to maximise thermal performance, while angled high-pressure ports ensure optimal hose routing and secure transmitter fitting. Each first stage features five 3/8” UNF medium-pressure ports and two 7/16” UNF high-pressure ports, with a forged rotating turret that aligns medium-pressure ports in a parallel direction for improved hose orientation in sidemount configurations. The fifth medium-pressure port includes a protective bumper when not in use, adding durability and safety. Double swivel hoses enhance freedom of movement and comfort, particularly when diving in restrictive exposure protection.

The MTX-R second stages are intentionally simple, with no diver-operated controls, reducing complexity and lowering the risk of free flow in harsh environments. Breathing performance is delivered via a high-performance pneumatically balanced, lever-operated poppet valve. Large, diver-friendly purge buttons and extensive impact protection ensure usability and longevity, while a large heat exchanger helps reduce the risk of second-stage freezing. The system is tested to EN250A standards for octopus use to 60 metres in cold water and is Nitrox/Oxygen compatible, making it a dependable choice for serious sidemount, technical, and exploration diving.
