The Garmin GPSMAP 1623 Non-Sonar Chartplotter delivers a powerful, modern and highly connected helm experience with a bright 16″ display designed for exceptional visibility in every condition. Built for seamless integration, it supports engine connectivity and advanced marine networking, allowing you to expand your onboard system with ease. With compatibility for Garmin Navionics+™ and Garmin Navionics Vision+™ cartography, the chartplotter gives you access to enhanced coastal and inland mapping, daily updates and a fresh, intuitive charting interface.

Although this model does not include built-in sonar, the GPSMAP X3 series architecture supports Ultra High-Definition SideVü™ and ClearVü™ scanning capabilities on xsv models. These offer vivid, high-contrast colour palettes and excellent underwater clarity. Users can also add Panoptix™ or LiveScope™ live sonar (with compatible transducers sold separately) to gain real-time views below and around the vessel. This flexibility provides a future-ready platform for anglers and boaters who may wish to expand their sonar capabilities later on.

The display features a slim edge-to-edge glass design with high-resolution IPS technology, delivering excellent readability, improved sunlight performance and wide viewing angles. Enhanced processing power ensures smooth performance across charts, menus, networking and system functions. Its refined footprint allows easy installation across a wide range of helm layouts while maintaining a premium, modern look.

Integrated marine technology expands the unit’s capabilities significantly. When networked with a Force® trolling motor and compatible Power-Pole® shallow water anchors, the chartplotter provides access to advanced boat control functions such as smart anchor auto-deployment, jog, auto stow and anchor-drag detection. Power-Pole CHARGE integration allows on-screen battery monitoring, power distribution control, emergency start options and on-the-run charging.

For navigation and safety, an optional GMR™ 18 HD3 dome radar bundle adds enhanced situational awareness for weather, obstacles and surrounding traffic. Optional Vision+™ upgrades provide relief shading, satellite imagery and sonar imagery for more detailed charting.

Sailors benefit from comprehensive Garmin SailAssist™ tools, including laylines, race guidance, true wind data, enhanced wind rose displays, tide and current information and sailing polars to help determine optimal performance for given wind angles and speeds.

Through the Garmin Marine Network, the Garmin GPSMAP 1623 Non-Sonar Chartplotter can share maps, radar, sonar, video and user data with compatible onboard devices. It also supports NMEA 2000® and NMEA 0183 for connecting autopilots, VHF radios, AIS systems, digital switching, Fusion audio and weather sensors. Built-in Wi-Fi® connects the unit to the ActiveCaptain® app, enabling smart notifications, OneChart™ access, software updates, Helm control and user-generated Garmin Quickdraw™ Community data.

Integrated ANT® technology allows pairing with quatix® marine watches, GNX™ Wind instruments, gWind™ Wireless 2 sensors and wireless remotes. The chartplotter supports engine integration, including select Yamaha® engines, and consolidates multiple third-party functions through the OneHelm™ interface. When paired with an inReach® communicator, users can send messages directly from the display, manage contacts and view conversations in a familiar text-style format.
